Justin Timberlake escapes prosecution for voting booth photo

Justin Timberlake flew into his hometown of Memphis, Tennessee to cast an early vote for the US Presidential Elections.

To help promote voting amongst his fans, he uploaded a selfie on Instagram in the polling station at a booth with the caption:

'Hey! You! Yeah! YOU! I just flew from LA to Memphis to #rockthevote!!! No excuses, my good people!'

However, taking photos within a polling station has been illegal in the state of Tennessee and the Shelby County District Attorney's Office stated that Timberlake's photo was 'under review' yesterday (October 25).

A second statement was swiftly released afterwards in which it was confirmed that no charges would be made. The District Attorney, Amy Weirich said:

"The statement released earlier today by my office regarding Justin Timberlake and an investigation was incorrect and was released without my knowledge."

The photo has since been removed.
