Ricky Wilson has confessed that he is only a coach on The Voice to boost his band's profile.

The Kaiser Chiefs singer is one of two new additions to the BBC reality TV show, with Kylie Minogue also signing up.

Some questioned why the indie man wanted to take part in the programme - and he told NME that he joined up with sales in mind.

Wilson said: "I love my band and I want our new record to get noticed. I know that everyone is going, 'He thinks he's going to sell more records and more tickets'. And that is why I'm doing it. I'm not a f*cking idiot."

Kaiser Chiefs meanwhile are due to release their new album 'Education, Education & War' on March 31.

The third series of The Voice is set to hit screens from Saturday (January 11).
