Kanye West's lawyers move to shut down Coinye West virtual currency

Lawyers have moved to shut down a virtual currency named in honour of Kanye West.

Taking heed from Bitcoin, upcoming new currency Coinye West appeared recently sporting a caricature of the rapper's face as its logo.

However, it seems the US star's camp haven't reacted to well to the virtual dosh idea.

The Wall Street Journal report that West's lawyers have issued a cease-and-desist letter to the makers of Coiyne West, with the message stating:

"Given Mr. West's wide-ranging entrepreneurial accomplishments, consumers are likely to mistakenly believe that Mr. West is the source of your services."

One of Coinye West's coders said on Monday (December 6), however: "We want to release this to the public before the man can try to crush it. They'll still come after us, but that's OK."
