Kanye West blames himself for his mother's death

Prior to headlining Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage this weekend, Kanye West gave an exclusive interview to Q Magazine.

In the interview, West blames himself for the untimely death of his mother who died after elective surgery at the age of 58, he said:

"If I had never moved to L.A. she'd be alive. I don't want to go into it because it will bring me to tears."

Asked by the rock magazine what he has sacrificed in his life for his success, the 38-year-old said "My Mom".

West's mother, Donda, died after suffering complications from having liposuction, a tummy tuck and breast reduction surgery in a hospital in Marina del Rey in California.  The surgery was performed by Dr Jan Adams.

She was pronounced dead on November 10 2007. The coroner’s report, while unable to determine the exact “manner of death,” found both vomiting and “medication use for pain” as contributing factors. Adams was not faulted by the coroner.

The new issue of Q Magazine is out on June 30.
