Kanye West has used Twitter for a positive cause for a change by congratulating Oscar winner Leonardo DiCaprio.

The rapper has become synonymous in recent weeks for using the social networking website to issue prolonged rants.

However, he took to the website overnight to pay respect to actor DiCaprio.

On Sunday (February 28) he finally won an Oscar for his leading role in The Revenant.

West wrote on Twitter: "Finally!!! Our guy!!! We're so so happy for Leo!!!"

The US star has been using Twitter regularly since dropping his latest album 'The Life of Pablo' on Tidal earlier in February.

The record, however, has yet not been released on general sale.
