Kanye West says he doesn't want to be liked by people.

The rapper said during a freestyle at a gig in Manila, Philippines on Sunday (April 10) that he isn't one to follow trends.

The US star said 'I don’t want to be liked' repeatedly before saying: "If I gotta be like what everyone else be like, then I don't wanna be liked.

"I would rather follow God than follow the media / I would rather follow God than follow perception / Because most artists aren’t appreciated in their own time / So the more I’m disliked the better I must be doing."

West seems to be liked by some people, however, as his latest album has just reached No.1 in the US.

The rapper bagged his seventh chart-topping record with 'The Life of Pablo'.

The album was originally released via streaming platform Tidal before more recently being sold.
