Kim Kardashian starts legal proceedings against a celebrity gossip website

Kanye West's wife, Kim Kardashian, has started legal proceedings against a celebrity gossip site which claimed that she was not the victim of a robbery in Paris last week.

MediaTakeout, and its founder, Fred Mwangaguhunga, will be sued for unspecified damages and defamation.

Kardashian was held at gun point in a flat in Paris last week by robbers who stole around £8m ($10m) worth of jewellery.

The lawsuit filed in New York stated that after the reality star was:

"The victim of a horrific and traumatic armed robbery in France, Kim Kardashian returned to the US only to again by victimised, but this time by an online gossip tabloid that published a series of articles in early October 2016 referring to her as a liar and thief".

The papers state that the website founder refused to publish an apology for: "calling her a liar and a criminal".

Kanye West was forced to stop a concert when he got the news that his wife had been the victim of an armed robbery. He has since rescheduled some of his tour dates.
