Kanye aimed for album cover that would be banned

The artwork for Kanye West's 'My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy' that he complained was banned may have been designed for that exact purpose.

An interview with the artist, George Condo, in The New Yorker reveals interesting details about his working relationship with West during the creation of the image. Reporter Calvin Tomkins reported on the publication's website that:

"The most sensational of the five shows a naked black man straddled by a strange-looking white skinned female with a long spotted tail, and of course that's the one Kanye decided to use."

Tomkins explained that the image was censored and revealed that:

"West said that he had seen paintings by Condo, and wanted to collaborate with him. According to Condo, he also said that he was looking for 'something that will be banned'."

Kanye famously tweeted about the alleged 'banning', which was never made official, back in October 2010:

"So Nirvana can have a naked human being on they cover but I can't have a PAINTING of a monster with no arms and a polka dot tail and wings."
