Kanye West confirms minimalist album artwork

Kanye West has confirmed that the album artwork for his hotly anticipated upcoming album will consist of essentially no artwork at all.

‘Yeezus’, which is slated for release on June 18th, has been gaining ground in promotion over the last few weeks, with a series of huge projections of his latest video ‘New Slaves’ on buildings around the world. Yet despite such promotion ahead of the release, the album artwork makes much less of a grandiose statement.

The image appeared on West’s official website including a short sample of one of the album tracks, featuring what appears to be a simple clear jewel case containing a plain-looking CD and all bound by one small piece of red tape.

The image contradicts previously leaked versions of the cover artwork, which included a melted gold image and a picture showing West being crucified upon a wooden Y.
