Kasabian prefer bedroom studios and basements

Kasabian, who are hard at work on their fourth album, have revealed that if given the choice they would shun polished production and swanky studios in favour of their low-key, raw sound.

The band's songwriter and guitarist, Serge Pizzorno, told the NME most of the work for their upcoming record was done "in a basement":

"We were in a basement in San Francisco pulling it all together - we don't go for big studios, just basements and bedrooms for that homemade feel. So it was smelly, hair all over the place, getting involved, no time for f***ing about."

He also added that his parts were mostly done in his spare room at home:

"I did it at home in my spare room, just as I always have. Ninety per cent of the recording for me was done in [my home county] Leicester [England]."

Earlier this year, Foo Fighters signified a return to the 'old school' after recording 'Wasting Light' in Grohl's home studio on analogue equipment to give it a grass-roots and more authentic appeal, so this return to the tried and tested DIY-style music making looks set to make a strong comeback.
