Kasabian's Serge Pizzorno says they are the last rock band

Serge Pizzorno believes his band Kasabian are the only band championing rock music at present.

Pizzorno feels that the 'Days Are Forgotten' rockers are the only English rock band to have any longevity over the last decade.

The band is hoping they can take their success to the next level with their new album 'Velociraptor!'.

When asked if they are hoping to achieve super-stardom, guitarist Serge Pizzorno said:

"I think so, yeah. We are. We're the last band left, really. There are not many rock bands left. So it's up to us in a lot of ways."

The group are hoping to raise themselves from cult band status to "conquer" mainland Europe by embarking on a rigorous touring schedule.

Singer Tom Meighan added: "I just love the fact that we're going out there to try and conquer it. It's great because we'll headline V Festival and then play Switzerland at 6pm on the other stage.

"We're a bit of a cult band in Europe, but I think things are starting to look better. The Arctic Monkeys are the same as us out in Europe and other bands apart from the obvious giants like Coldplay, U2 or Kings of Leon."
