Kasabian's Tom Meighan: "BRIT Awards were awful"

Kasabian frontman Tom Meighan has slammed the recent BRIT Awards, saying the show was "relentlessly awful from start to finish".

The singer has taken aim at the annual awards ceremony which was hosted by TV star James Corden last month.

Meighan wasn't impressed by the show telling BBC News: "From start to finish, just absolutely tiring. Absolutely awful. Bad TV. James Corduroy [Corden] has probably lived his last life. I don't mind the guy either, but even he was struggling and that says a lot. Everyone knows it. It was awful from start to finish. It was terrible. Relentlessly awful."

Guitarist Serge Pizzorno added: "You've got Simon Cowell sitting there like the king of the world, he should be petrified. Someone like that should be scared to go and show his face because there should be some real musicians there. He's sat with his arms around the kids like a king and you're thinking, 'You shouldn't even dare show your face mate! This is British music.'"

Robbie Williams also recently criticised the coveted awards show, claiming it was very dull.

He told British newspaper The Sun: “It’s a lot of back-slapping. I think people should be entertained. I get it right sometimes, I get it wrong a lot of the time too. But I want to say something different, or be different or cause controversy. Or just have something interesting happen and it seldom doesn’t.

He added: “I was backstage and it was dead — it might as well have been a dentists’ convention."
