Katy Perry on BRITs: "A lot of my favourite artists come from England"

Katy Perry has praised English musicians as she prepares to perform at this year's BRIT Awards.

The US star is due to perform at the glitzy awards ceremony at London's O2 Arena this evening (February 19).

The 'Wide Awake' lady told Capital FM that she is "honoured" to have a slot at the show because of the country's rich musical heritage.

Perry said: "I really am honoured to be on the BRITs because a lot of my favourite artists come from England and it's a really musical awards show. I like that it's based on people's actual talent and creativity."

The singer meanwhile was named woman of the year at last night's (February 18) Elle Style Awards in London.

This led to Kylie Minogue, who also attended the event, to effuse praise on the singer.
