Katy Perry: 'I'm really interested in having an art history education'

Pop beauty Katy Perry has confessed that she has recently become very interested in art and would like to learn more about it, and even become a collector of great pieces.

Speaking to E! News recently at MOCA’s 35th Anniversary Gala, the 'Dark Horse' superstar explained that she feels inspired when she's around wonderful artworks so wants to immerse herself more into that world:

"I'm going to slowly become an art collector. Today, we had an all-day art crawl. We got to see some private collections from some people's homes and then we went to a couple of galleries."

"What I'm really drawn to is modern contemporary art and pop art, of course. Also some key photography. I've always loved Cindy Sherman and today I got interested in Lee Friedlander... This is all brand new. I'm really interested in having an art history education."

Perry also opened up about her forthcoming Prismatic world tour, adding that it's less twee than her previous candy-coated outing, but still dramatic and eye-catching where the stage design is concerned: "I'm very excited because I believe this is my best work yet as far as live performances. It's going to be just as colourful and fun as before, but's obviously not based on candy. It's grown up. It's more mature."
