Katy Perry to 'perform Super Bowl half-time show'

Katy Perry will play next year's Super Bowl half-time show, according to Billboard.

The music industry bible said on Thursday (October 9) that the US star is lined up to perform the coveted slot.

Their sources have reportedly confirmed the gig, which will take place at next year's Super Bowl sporting event in Arizona on February 1.

Last year's half-time show - which saw Bruno Mars perform - was watched by 111.5 million viewers in the US and this has prompted speculation that acts will have to pay to play the gig.

Appearing on ESPN's College Game Day recently, Perry commented:

"I'm not the kind of girl who would pay to play the Super Bowl."

If she does play the half-time slot, the 'Roar' star will follow in the footsteps of acts like Michael Jackson, Madonna and Beyoncé.
