Katy Perry 'put her foot down' about paying to play Super Bowl

Katy Perry was adamant that she wasn't going to pay to play the Super Bowl.

The singer is performing the coveted half-time slot at the American football event on February 1 in Arizona.

The show attracts a TV audience of over 100 million and it was suggested that Perry had been asked to pay for the privilege to play the slot.

However, the US star told the Associated Press that she quickly made her thoughts clear on the matter.

She said: "I put my foot down very early in the courtship. I said, 'Look guys, here's where I draw a line in the sand'.

"I want to be invited on my own merits and not with some fine print. I stuck to my position...I don't even care if my contract leaks. I have nothing to hide, basically."
