Katy Perry wanted to perform with Dolly Parton at Super Bowl

Katy Perry has revealed that she wanted Dolly Parton to join her onstage when she performed at the Super Bowl.

The singer was the headline act for the 2015 half-time show at the massive American football event.

She took out Lenny Kravitz and Missy Elliott as special guests, but Perry told the New York Times that she originally wanted a country superstar to perform with her.

When asked for her thoughts about Coldplay's performance this year, which saw Beyoncé and Bruno Mars make cameos, Perry said:

"I thought it was cool. I always knew they were going to do a bit of a retrospective and bring back some artists that had done it in the past.

"I know how intense it is to do the Super Bowl and how much it takes. There are a lot of restrictions. It’s not as easy as saying like, 'Hey, I want Rihanna up there with me'.

"I tried to get Dolly Parton out there. It’s more of a communal process with the NFL and all the different artists. But I thought it was cool."

Perry's performance attracted 118.5 million viewers - the highest in the history of the Super Bowl.
