Katy Perry feels sorry for "Catfish" victim: 'My heart goes out to him'

Pop sensation Katy Perry has revealed that her "heart goes out to" a man named Spencer, who recently appeared on an episode of "Catfish" and was convinced that he had been talking to her for around six years.

In the episode, Spencer Morrill told the show's hosts that he was emotionally and romantically involved with Katy Perry and that they had been in a long-distance relationship of sorts for a long time.

During an interview with Sirius XM this week, Perry explained that it made her sad to think someone had been fooled to that extent and she feels a great deal of sympathy towards him:

"You know, like, my heart goes out to him actually because anybody that's been fooled like that or just, you know, people have dreams, and people live in different parts of world where not everything is always so accessible," she said. "Like we live on the coast, and we, you know, get stuff in a way that some other people don't get, and I felt bad for him, and so I didn't really like to indulge in that."

She confessed that someone notified her of the story via a link, but she couldn't bring herself to open it: "Yes someone sent me a link, and I didn't actually read through it because I just think it's really unfortunate and very sad."
