Pop sensation Katy Perry has starred in a live puppet segment on popular American cartoon The Simpsons.

In episode 8 of what is the show’s 22nd season, Perry appears along side live representations of the main characters, including the whole Simspsons family, tavern owner Moe and Homer's boss, Mr. Burns.

Matt Groening created the episode as a change to the typical formula that the Christmas episodes usually follow and the humourous guest appearance complete with festive singalong, and not to mention Perry’s red latex dress emblazoned with the characters’ faces, made for a welcome change.
