Katy Perry pays a birthday tribute to the late Freddie Mercury

Pop star Katy Perry has paid tribute to the late rock legend Freddie Mercury on what would have been his 65th birthday (September 5).

The 'Teenage Dream' singer posted a public video on YouTube, in which she sings 'Happy Birthday' to him and opens up about how he inspired both her career and sense of individuality.

"You're not really gone. You've inspired us all and you've inspired me especially. Without you, I wouldn't be making music or doing what I do because your lyrics inspired me as a fifteen-year-old girl. I heard 'Killer Queen' and wanted to be a killer Queen."
