Katy Perry on her new album: "I do want to get back to my roots"

Pop beauty Katy Perry has opened up about the plans for her next album and revealed that she will let what's popular at that time determine the style she will go for.

Speaking to MTV News, the 'Teenage Dream' sensation admitted that while she's keen to do another pop record it would be interesting to see "what the world wants" from her before committing to one genre:

"I'm going to stick my finger out there and test the waters of what the world wants, or what I need to say. But I'm all ears. If people want me to do another pop record I can do another pop record. I definitely have a lot to say right now."

"I just think that it's time for me in some way to show where I came from. I've always just been me and my guitar, and I'm not saying I'm going to make that record, but I do want to get back to my roots."

Addressing her currently bright-blue locks, she added: "I've been changing my hair colour too much!"

26-year-old Perry also recently confirmed that her new single 'Part Of Me' wasn't written about her divorce from comedian Russell Brand although lyrically the track is a perfect fit to her situation.
