Katy Perry wins award, gets vocal about threat to her record label

Pop sensation Katy Perry was awarded the Artist of the Year prize at last night's (May 10) NARM Awards in Los Angeles and made a fighting comment about the still-pending merger of Universal and EMI during her acceptance speech.

Dressed in a stunning black mesh cut-away dress, the 'Part Of Me' hitmaker took the stage to collect her trophy and remarked upon Universal's proposal to take over EMI, declaring with a raised fist:

"You haven't taken us down yet, Universal!"

NARM's chairman, Jim Donio, said of Perry's win: "Katy's music was absolutely everywhere over the past year, and her dominance of the singles charts is a nearly unprecedented accomplishment. She has unquestionably blossomed into a true global superstar and has earned this award in every sense of the word."
