'Wide Awake' beauty Katy Perry has revealed that her hectic schedule throughout 2011 was one of the main reasons her marriage to Russell Brand fell apart.

In a new interview with The Sun newspaper, the songstress explained that she had just released her latest album and knew she had to take the songs on an extensive tour although she didn't realise a divorce would be the outcome:

"If I could edit it any other way I would, but that is exactly the way it was. I always had plans to make this record and usually with a record, you tour a record."

"Touring is always important to me. It's like a big IOU to my fans, because I know they are the reason I exist."

"Then last year, in my relationship, it's like I didn't want to change. I wanted to stay as a performer who has so much love for my fans, and I don't want to ever think I would have to choose between them."
