Katy Perry's rep slams GHD over "defamatory statements"

A rep for Katy Perry has attacked hair company GHD over what they claim are "defamatory" comments about the singer.

The 'Wide Awake' star teamed up with GHD in 2011 to help promote their products in a deal that was said to be worth £2.9m.

TMZ report that the singer may sue the company over claims that they owe her an additional £1.3m after failing to honour a verbal agreement that would see Perry pocket a two-year extension.

The group behind GHD, Jemella, claim there wasn't an agreement in place and said they wanted to cut ties with Perry due to her apparent drop in popularity in Europe.

Speaking about the case, Perry's rep told TMZ: "Jemella's attempt to embarrass Ms. Perry by including defamatory statements about her in a public filing is shameful."

They continued: "They're backing out of the deal because of an ownership change, and just throwing shade to hide their bad faith."
