Katy Perry "halfway through" recording new album

Katy Perry has updated fans on the progress of her next album.

The pop songstress has been busy working on the follow-up to her 2010 record 'Teenage Dream', which spawned hits such as 'Firework' and 'California Gurls'.

Speaking to Billboard, Perry confirmed that she has done about 50% of her new album so far - but with no release date set yet, the pressure is off. She said:

"When I put myself on a timeline, when I tell the record company when I want to release the album, that's when the race starts. That's when I put pressure on myself."

The 'Part of Me' singer also revealed that she has been working with producers Max Martin, Dr. Luke and Greg Walls on the record, as well as writing a song called 'Double Rainbow' with Bonnie McKee.
