Katy Perry: 'I won't use specific names in my break-up songs'

Pop songstress Katy Perry has revealed that while writing songs is very cathartic she will avoid using specific names to keep an air of mystery surrounding her new material.

The superstar is currently working on her forthcoming new album and told OK! magazine that it's important to her to not refer to ex-lovers so that the tracks can still be 'relatable':

"Maybe I'm not specific with names, but that's my lockbox where all my secrets go. Writing is like therapy. [My songs] stem from the truth inside of me. I just want songs to be relatable, and to be adopted as someone else's soundtrack."

Earlier in April, the 'Teenage Dream' beauty confessed that her current songwriting sessions can be likened to 'emotional abuse': "It's like the dream team. They push me the most, and also argue the most. It's an emotional abuse session. I'm a student of life. Words are like little treasures. I put all of my ideas in a folder, whether I read them in newspaper or through a conversation with friends. I've got years of titles and things I want to write about."
