Katy Perry’s ‘Roar’ becomes biggest digital debut of 2013

Katy Perry’s latest single ‘Roar has become the biggest digital debut of 2013, with sales projected to hit 525,000 before the week is done.

The achievement is a milestone in itself, but would also top the sales of all her 2010 hits from album ‘Teenage Dreams’ including smashes ‘California Gurls’, ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Firework’, ‘E.T.’, and ‘Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)’, all of which topped the Billboard Hot 100. Should ‘Roar’ achieve the same feat it will be Perry’s eighth Billboard No. 1.

‘Roar’ is the lead single off of Perry’s forthcoming album ‘Prism’, which is due for release in October this year.

The single is already climbing the US charts, with a huge lead over Lady Gaga's long-awaited 'Applause', but has yet to be released officially in the UK
