Katy Perry’s latest single ‘Roar’ as soared to the number one spot in the UK iTunes chart after an early release.

The track was originally scheduled to be released on September 8 but the American singer decided to rush release the track today (September 1).

Despite being available for less than a day ‘Roar’ has already topped the iTunes chart in the UK and has knocked Ellie Goulding’s ‘Burn’ from the No. 1 position.

On the single’s rescheduled release date, Katy Perry tweeted:

“YAY UK! A week early & by popular demand you can be louder than a lion! Finally, it’s your turn to ROAR!”

Fans will still have to wait another four days before seeing the video for ‘Roar’ as it is set to be unveiled on September 5.

However, a preview clip has already been released (see video below) as well as a retro-looking movie poster (see image below).

Katy Perry will be bringing London’s iTunes Festival to a close on September 30 with a headline show at the Camden Roundhouse.
