Katy Perry makes big announcement on 'Good Morning America'

Pop beauty Katy Perry has revealed that she is launching a contest aimed at students to celebrate the success of her new single 'Roar' and impending release of her new album, 'Prism'.

She has encouraged schools to create a video of themselves 'roaring', in honour of her new single 'Roar', and announced that the winning entry will be rewarded with a live performance that is set to take place at the successful school. Speaking to 'Good Morning America' she explained:

"Any school in the country, it doesn't matter who you are or what school you go to. If you make a great video I'm just going to show up at your school on the day of my birthday, October 25. The best video wins. I'm coming to your football field or classroom, whatever you have! Best video wins a big performance from me on my birthday morning!"

"It's always exciting to go back to high school or school in general. When I get up this early in the morning it makes me relive that!"

She also opened up about 'Prism', which is due to be released on October 22, adding that it's different to her previous offerings although it is still full of her own style and personality: "I have to keep the essence. The 'Teenage Dream' thing was really fun, but it's just time to have that next evolution. This next era is really exciting. Just as big, just as visual, just as colourful - as it is 'Prism' - it is me."
