Katy Perry ready to ditch pop for Joni Mitchell style folk

Katy Perry has suggested that she might ditch pop in favour of acoustic folk.

The US star is due to release new album 'Prism' on October 22 but she told Billboard that her future might be more 'Joni Mitchell' rather than her trademark soaring pop.

The powerful singer said:

"I'll probably turn into more of a Joni Mitchell. As I inch towards my 30s, I think my fourth record will be more of an acoustic guitar album."

She added: "That's where I started when I was first discovered by [songwriter/producer] Glen Ballard and got my first record deal. We'll see - I can't get ahead of myself."

Katy Perry meanwhile recently showcased the track 'Dark Horse' from 'Prism', following on from lead song 'Roar'.

However, the track won't be released as an official single, with the tune unleashed to preview her forthcoming album.
