Niall Horan's chances of marrying Katy Perry appear to have suffered a blow after the singer failed to respond to his proposal.

As previously reported, the One Direction man jokingly offered his hand in marriage to the 'Roar' singer on Twitter after she called him cute whilst on the X Factor on Sunday (October 20).

He said: "I love you @katyperry! Thank you! Ps. Will u marry me?"

It's not turned out too good for the Irishman, however, with Perry still to respond to his proposal.

The 'Prism' star helped Horan through to the Bootcamp stage on the X Factor in 2010 when she appeared as a guest judge.
