Katy Perry says she once kept cuttings of Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift's hair in her purse.

The pop songstress made the bizarre claim whilst speaking at an iHeartRadio listening party to promote her new record 'Prism'.

The 'Roar' star said that as a rising artist she decided to get mementos from the two US singers during a visit to an awards ceremony - their hair locks. She said:

"One of the first times I went to the Grammys, I got to share a dressing room with Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift, and I asked them for a lock of their hair from each one of them, which is totally creepy, but awesome."

Perry concluded: "I put little bows on them individually and put them in my purse. And that was my little secret and I'm a freak."

The singer meanwhile released her new album 'Prism' this week, with the record expected to perform well in the charts.

It marks the follow-up to Perry's massive 2010 album 'Teenage Dream'.
