Katy Perry: 'The 'Prismatic' tour stage is literally in the audience, I'll be so close'

Pop songstress Katy Perry has revealed that she can't wait to kick off her forthcoming new tour because she will be closer to her fans than ever with the way her team have designed the stage.

Speaking to Radio 1's Nick Grimshaw, Perry explained that her 'Prismatic' tour will be unlike the other productions she has produced before:

"You should see the stage that I've built for this tour - it is so exciting. It's literally in the audience. I can be as close or as far as I want."

"[Touring is] a little bit harder than you think but it's overall very satisfying and exciting... for the tour I've begun to develop this idea of spontaneous crowd interaction, bringing people on the stage. Which is exciting because I think I have a good intuition so if one of them has crazy eyes I'll leave them off."

The 'Dark Horse' beauty also opened up about how she likes to spend her time in the UK when she's here, adding that high tea is something she loves because it's so typically British: "I like to soak in the tradition and the culture that is the great England. I like to have high tea, which we don't even have [in American]. We have happy hour, but I think you guys have that too. I think you guys are always doing something concerning food, like high tea or breakfast or lunch or happy hour."

"I have had tea at Claridge's [hotel] which was really nice. I try and do it every single time. I love those sandwiches that have no crusts on them, and they're so fancy. But when I grew up and went to school, you could always tell who the rich kids were - the kids who the moms took all the crusts off. I had crusts!"
