Kelly Clarkson's new album: 'I've wanted to make this record since I was a little girl'

Superstar Kelly Clarkson has now moved on from her Sony Music's RCA Records deal.

The 'Piece By Piece' sensation parted ways with her label and has now signed with Atlantic Records, which she has described as being the place that will allow her to explore the musical avenues she is most drawn to.

In a statement, she explained that she has begun work on a new record inspired by her love of soul and R&B: "We have already started creating a record that I have been wanting to make since I was a little girl, and a record that fans have been asking me to make for years. Here's to the future!"

Back in February, Clarkson opened up about creating a children's book and told her Twitter followers that it was a long-standing dream of hers: "It's always kind of a cool thing to be on a plane with my daughter when we're going on trips to the U.K. and Asia and Australia - all these amazing places that she was too little to remember."

"I started writing down these little fun stories, like when she went to Australia and got to hang out with some kangaroos... These little stories ended up turning into a book. I guess my hope is for little kids to read 'River Rose and the Magical Lullaby' and be inspired by it and know they can achieve anything."
