Kelly Clarkson has been working in the studio on a project lead by her two female backing singers, Jill and Kate. 

The 'Because of You' star is still hard at work on her own forthcoming fifth album, but took time out from her own career to lend a vocal hand to the pair and they will be collectively known as Almost Famous. 

Tweeting on July 29, Clarkson wrote:

"I'm off to Oklahoma to record some songs with @jillandkate! I love random writing and recording with friends!"

"We've been writing & singing together 4 over 4 years so we thought why not record it. We love singing harmony! (sic)"

She also explained her role in the all-girl vocal harmony group, adding "we all sing lead, alto, and soprano at different points."
