American Idol sensation Kelly Clarkson will perform the U.S. National Anthem at this year's Super Bowl XLVI. 

The exciting news was due to be announced later this month by the NFL, but the 'Mr. Know It All' superstar confirmed her appearance with an exclusive post on her official Twitter page (January 11) that read:

"@Kelly_Clarkson to sing anthem at Super Bowl. @Miranda_Lambert & @BlakeShelton, are singing "America the Beautiful."

She is set to take the stage before the NFL championship game at Indianapolis on February 5 and will follow in the footsteps of Christina Aguilera, who famously flubbed her lines last year, Carrie Underwood and Mariah Carey who have all been given the honour.
