Kelly Osbourne calls for Joan Rivers to given be memorial day

Kelly Osbourne has shown her support for petition that wants September 4 named National Joan Rivers Day in the US.

The iconic comedienne passed away aged 81 on Thursday (September 4) after failing to recover from a cardiac arrest suffered during throat surgery last week (August 28) in New York.

Osbourne worked with Rivers on the TV show Fashion Police and she said on Twitter that life will "never be the same" without her colleague.

She also posted on the social networking website a link to a petition calling for September 4 to be named in Rivers' honour in the US.

At the time of writing, the petition has over 8,000 signatures.

The petition, created by publicist Richard Harlow, says: "Let's give Joan the recognition she deserves & the fanfare she said she wanted in her book I Hate Everyone : Starting With Me. Rivers writes, 'I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action...I want Craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents'."
