Kesha will appear in an forthcoming episode of Jane the Virgin.

The singer will play the part of rocker Annabelle, who becomes a neighbour of Jane.

The US star will feature on the upcoming new series' second episode.

Showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman said in a statement: “We are so thrilled Kesha will be appearing on Jane!

"We are all huge fans of hers, and we are so excited to welcome her to the Jane the Virgin family.”

The next series of the comedy drama TV show will air in the US from October 12.

Britney Spears is due to play herself in the season's fifth episode.
