Ke$ha on record label pressure: 'I needed to disappear and sleep in the dirt for a little while'

Pop sensation Ke$ha has revealed that the pressure her record label put on her to write new material for another album made her desperate to go off the grid and get her "head back on straight".

Talking about the time period that followed the release and subsequent popularity of her debut record 'Animal', Ke$ha explained to Billboard.com that RCA were keen for her to use the momentum and keep working, but she couldn't deal with the stress of constant writing and recording so she disappeared for a month on her own:

"I had the label breathing down my neck to come back and make a new record, and I kind of had to tell everybody to f**k off for a month. I needed to get my head back on straight and sleep in the dirt for a little while. And then I came back and have literally been working on my record ever since."

Her forthcoming new album, 'Warrior', is due to be released on December 3 and she added that her intention with the new record was to prove that she could really sing:

"I got really sick of people saying that I couldn't sing, because I can do very few things confidently in my life, and one of them is that I can sing. I remember thinking [with "Animal"], 'Oh, it's just processed. People will learn that I can sing later.' But after reading some reviews that were like, 'She can't sing,' I finally was like, 'F**k that.'"
