Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh: "Recording my debut album was thrilling"

Girls Aloud star Kimberley Walsh was in her "element" while putting together her debut solo offering.

The blonde beauty's 'Centre Stage' is a collection of much-loved classic show tunes, and theatre fan Walsh says recording the album was a dream come true.

She explained to the Daily Star: "I’ve grown up listening to the great musical stars like Lea Salonga. It’s always played a big part in my life. I was thrilled when Decca Records approached me to do the album – I was completely in my element being able to re-work and record some of my all-time favourite songs."

The much-anticipated Girls Aloud tour kicks off later this month, and Walsh has gushed about being back with her bandmates after over three years apart.

She smiled: "The last few years have been incredible and I’m loving everything I’m doing right now. It’s lovely being back with the girls and being able to do my own thing as well. I never plan too far ahead, I always choose things I feel passionate about and they always lead to something else.

Walsh added: "In this business you never know what the future holds."
