Kimberley Walsh ready to resume acting career

Kimberley Walsh is planning to turn to acting following the split of Girls Aloud.

The pop group reunited last year for a greatest hits album and a farewell tour as they celebrated their tenth anniversary.

Walsh also released the solo album 'Centre Stage' in February, which saw the singer perform covers of songs from theatre and musicals.

Speaking to Closer, however, the British beauty said that she now wants to go back to her roots and try out acting once again. Walsh said:

"I started acting at five and then the band happened. But now it feels like the right time to get back to basics. I look at Billie Piper and think she's got an amazing career. But then all my friends say they want me to be the next Julie Andrews."

The singer's previous acting credits include a cameo in 3D dance flick All Stars and a role in children's comedy Horrid Henry: The Movie.
