Kylie Minogue backs 'scapegoat' Miley Cyrus: "The guys seem to get away with it"

Kylie Minogue has defended extrovert pop stars like Miley Cyrus who court controversy.

The US star has often been heavily criticised for being too overtly sexual over the past year as she shed her Hannah Montana image.

Other female stars such as Rihanna also come under fire, but Minogue told Sky News that their gung-ho nature should be applauded.

She said: "I admire people like Miley, like Rihanna - girls that are quite unapologetic about what they're doing. Is it too much? It depends on what your personal taste is."

The Voice UK coach added: "But she's definitely a scapegoat for what might be happening in the broader sense in pop music. Let's not forget there's always been sex, drugs and rock and roll. But as you say, the guys seem to get away with it."
