Kylie Minogue on ARIA honour: 'I've earned my stripes'

Pop icon Kylie Minogue feels honoured by her recognition from the Australian Record Industry Association (ARIA) and has said that it almost validates her extensive career as a singer.

The 'Spinning Around' superstar was inducted into the ARIA Hall Of Fame over the weekend and told the press that the acknowledgement means so much after years of highs and lows:

"There has been a period in my career, more than one I'd say, where things are low and things aren't going the way you hoped they would go. I had a non-conventional start in this industry and it wasn't to everyone's liking. Being here and being acknowledged is really kind of something, it's amazing."

She added: "I understand that when I started, I hadn't earned my stripes but I think I've got them now."
