Lady Gaga overwhelmed by career success

Modern pop icon Lady Gaga has taken to her official Twitter page to tell her Little Monsters that today marks the fifth anniversary of her first ever No.1 single.

Writing on the social networking site earlier today (January 14), Gaga explained that she's overwhelmed by the success she has enjoyed to date and can't believe how quickly five years have passed:

"5 years today I had my 1st #1 Song with Just Dance. I can't believe I'm even here. Still making music I believe in. In my big shoes. Paws up."

Earlier this week, Gaga slammed the critics who have reported negatively on her latest studio album 'ARTPOP' and told her fans that they probably didn't understand the record if they had bad things to say about it: "I don't understand critics but here's why: would you critic a dance show if you were not yourself a dancer? Would you critic an English paper if you did not speak English? Or a French paper if you don't speak French?"

"Don't let these things bother you, because the concepts of 'ARTPOP' I spent a lot of time and research a love on. But everybody (sic) will understand it, it operates in a place of love that sees the world as unified. It is simply a pleasurable experience for you to access if you choose. I don't believe that we are divided as people. If you criticise others you criticise yourself."
