Lady Gaga on the Born This Way Foundation: 'We do the work, we're on the ground with the kids'

'Venus' superstar Lady Gaga has taken to her LittleMonsters.com website to share a message about her non-profit organisation, the Born This Way Foundation, and told her fans that she is very hands-on with all of the work.

Writing from Texas's South By South West festival, the hitmaker explained that she's incredibly passionate about what the foundation does and is proud to be so closely involved in the help it provides:

"My mom and I are so deeply passionate about the Born This Way Foundation. Its work, its message. Creating local grassroots events to support youth with mental illness, abusive household situations, disabilities, in search of friends, answers. We believe in advocating empowerment and creating a safe space for kids to go who feel helpless."

Gaga continued: "Suicide Prevention, Compassion, Inspiring Bravery. This is our mission. We do not raise money and allocate the funds to other charities for them to do the work. We do the work. We formed a brand new, up-to-date with all the newest research and best doctors in the country approach to youth wellness. My mom is on the ground with the kids, so am I, the whole Born Brave Team is."

She will also act as the keynote speaker for 2014's SXSW tomorrow and the talk will be held at 11am local time in the Grand Ballroom of the downtown Austin Hilton hotel.
