Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's 'Cheek to Cheek' debuts at No.1 in the US

Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett's jazz record 'Cheek to Cheek' has shot to No.1 in America.

The two singers recently teamed up for the collaborative album as they paid homage to jazz greats.

It has now been confirmed that it shifted 131,000 units in its first week on sale to debut at No.1.

It beat off competition from Kenny Chesney and Barbra Streisand, who were No.2 and No.3 this week.

Gaga took to Twitter on Wednesday (October 1) to write: "I'm so proud to have the #1 album in the country, with the greatest guy I know.

"Celebrating our Billboard #1 Top 200, #1 Jazz and #1 Traditional Jazz Albums in the US! Sending Tony love across the seas. And to the fans, it's hard to even find words. I'll put it in a song. So happy today, it's like dream. Somebody pinch me, but don't wake me. Heaven, I'm in heaven."

The 'Applause' singer has now become the first female artist to have three No.1 albums in the US this decade.

88-year-old Bennett is also now the oldest artist to have a US No.1 album.
