Gaga: 'Elton John's been there for me during the hardest times in my life'

Lady Gaga has praised Sir Elton John's positive impact on her life.

The singer opened up to Billboard about the influence the veteran musician has on her when it comes to guidance.

The pair are close friends and the Brit chose Gaga to be the godmother of his second child Elijah, who was born in 2013.

When asked how John has inspired Gaga's Born This Way Foundation, the 'Judas' singer said:

"He inspires me in ways I could not even begin to list properly. He is my friend, he is like a parent. He looks out for me, he was there for me during the hardest times in my life.

"He doesn't allow me to slip into depression without making sure that I’m OK. Everything he has done for AIDS, everything he has done for the LGBT community. He's just everything - when I’m with him, I just want to help be a part of his genius plan to save the world."

Gaga started the Born This Way Foundation in 2011 to help youths suffering from mental health issues.

Billboard report that the charity is due to team up in the near future with Elton John's AIDS Foundation.
