Lady Gaga praises Selena Gomez's bravery: 'I have a kindred excitement for her'
Lady Gaga has revealed that Selena Gomez's recent speech at the American Music Awards inspired her because it takes a lot of courage to speak out about mental health issues.
During Gomez's acceptance speech for the Pop/Rock Female Artist prize, she opened up and explained that she was "absolutely broken inside": "I kept it all together enough to where I would never let you down, but I kept it too much together to where I let myself down."
Now, Lady Gaga has praised her for being so brave and authentic and told the Kyle and Jackie O Show in Australia: "I found it very brave of her to stand up and speak about [depression]. I know her and I had a kindred excitement for her at that moment. As artists we don't want to let people down. I found it very brave of her to let it out and take the shackles off. You don't always have to keep up a good front to succeed, what matters most is you're OK inside. I applaud her.''
