U.S pop icon Lady Gaga has revealed an unusual source of inspiration for 'Born This Way' to Capital FM. 

Speaking on the station's Big Top 40 show, the hit maker explained that she is captivated by unicorns:

"I'm actually quite obsessed with unicorns."

"I was obsessed with the idea of a creature that was born with something magical that sort of made them the misfit in the world of the stallion."

Gaga's new single, 'Born This Way', focuses on a theme of not fitting in with the norm or with what's generally accepted so her fixation with the mythical creature is appropriate. She also has a tattoo of a unicorn on the top of her thigh and added:

"They are in essence a mythical creature so what I'm trying to say is the unicorn was born magical and it's not the unicorn's fault and it doesn't make it any more or less special or any less unique but it can't help that it was born with that magic."
