Lady Gaga’s reign continues

Lady Gaga’s record breaking new album ‘Born This Way’ continues to hold on to the UK album top spot.

The album is the fastest selling album of this year, shifting 288,000 copies on its first day (May 23) in the US and continues to hold off chart competition from previous No. 1 holder Adele and her albums ‘21’ and ‘19’ which sit in the runner-up and No.3 spots this week.

Take That and Rihanna’s newest records are both climbing as they get their accompanying tours underway, with Take That’s ‘Progress’ breaking the top 10 again at No. 7 and Rihanna’s ‘Loud’ rising five places to 12.

Also, notable this week is the reappearance of several classic rock greats in the charts with Electric Light Orchestra’s ‘All Over the World, The Very Best Of’ in at No. 22 and Queen’s ‘Greatest Hits’ appearing at 25 after a recent BBC special on the band. New albums by classic rockers are also breaking in this week with Status Quo’s ‘Quid Pro Quo’ and Journey’s ‘Eclipse’ at No. 10 and 33 respectively.
